Hurstmere School is an all-boys secondary academy set on delightful, open grounds in Sidcup, Bexley. The school has a brilliant history with Premier Pathways trainees, with a well-established, perfectly balanced approach to support and independent growth.

Hurstmere believes that it is essential that school is a challenging, inspirational and transformational experience. They are enormously proud of their academic, sporting and cultural successes; however, they are proudest of the fact that parents tell them that their sons are happy there and that they enjoy coming to school.

The school hosts the School Games programme for the whole of the Borough of Bexley, which is used to drive whole school improvement, supporting schools to develop cross curricular links, increase physical activity, and develop young people’s personal and social skills, general well-being and raising standards across the school. As such, it would be an excellent bonus for the successful Trainee Maths Teacher to want to take part in sports and other extracurricular clubs!

The ideal Trainee Maths Teacher will have a degree in Maths, or similar discipline such as Economics or Engineering. In the instance that the degree is not in Maths, an A-Level here is required.

We know that two full years in a school will enable you to become a confident and reflective practitioner. Through rich experiences in a consistent setting blended with online learning and insightful residentials, Premier Pathways develops you at a steady pace.

Our salaried programme supports you financially, whilst both a University Tutor and Premier Pathways Mentor nurture your academic progress and wellbeing. This unique combination of no tuition fees, educational support and peer network allows you to focus on the fundamentals of teaching and learning and refining your practice.

The first year of the programme will see you join your school in a support role capacity, working towards the standards of a Teaching Assistant apprenticeship. This will equip you with the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for a successful career in education and allowing you to practice them within the context of your school.

The second year is when your PGCE will commence, taught by the highly esteemed University of Buckingham. Your teaching timetable will increase as you put your theoretical understanding and practical experience to effect, remaining at a pace that is both challenging and comfortable.

Hurstmere School is a superb school in which to realise your teaching potential - the application window for this opportunity is now open. Apply today.
