About the school:
The Cumberland School is led by a passionate headteacher who grew up in Newham and knows from personal experience the impact a school has on individuals. He is committed to ensuring the culture and mentality at the school is one of success and aspiration.
The school is proud of its strong leadership and well-resourced departments and offer all new staff a personal mentor. There is coaching and professional development sessions on a weekly basis. Each department has Long-Term and Mid-Term planning in place to assist staff with their immediate lesson planning.
As a school they place staff wellbeing high on the agenda, the school have an early finish each Friday (12.30) and a three-week Christmas break plus offer all staff Perk Box and discounted gym membership. There is daily breakfast and free school lunch if you do one duty. The schools marking policy is focused on marking work in a live situation, not retrospective marking of books and the school have a system that means there is no need for report writing or lengthy comments on pupil progress – all designed to support staff workload and allow teachers to focus on student learning.
The successful trainee teacher will:
Be able to relate to children of all abilities, you will of course be able to teach the most able and offer challenge in your lessons, (in time) being able to design and deliver engaging and purposeful lessons is a must.
• Hold a good bachelor’s degree
• Have a GCSE Grade C or 4 in Mathematics and English Language
• Be passionate about teaching and making a difference to young people
• Have the presence and character to relate to the students at Cumberland School
